# TableScore Studio — Board Game Scorecards

Beautiful, reusable scorecard engine. Demo ships with **Dice Dozen**, a 100% original
dice game (Yahtzee-style mechanics, all-new names & art).

Separate from the AyHart app suite on purpose — clean for publisher pitches.

## Run it

No build step. Just open `index.html`, or serve:

```bash
cd board-game-scorecards
python3 -m http.server 8080
# → http://localhost:8080
```

To put on website: upload this folder as e.g. `https://example.com/scorecards/`.

## Deploy (Cloudflare Pages, matches ayhart-suite pattern)

Static site — no build step.

- Build command: _(empty / none)_
- Output directory: `/` (repo root)
- Suggested domain: `tablescore.ayhart.com` (avoids clash with existing `tally.ayhart.com`)
- Steps: Cloudflare Dashboard → Workers & Pages → Create → Pages → Connect to Git → select `AyHartApps/board-game-scorecards` → Build command empty → Deploy → Custom domain → add `tablescore.ayhart.com`.

PWA: `manifest.webmanifest` + `sw.js` give offline-first install like the suite apps.

## Add a new game (2 min)

1. Copy `games/dice-dozen.js` → `games/my-game.js`
2. Change `id`, `name`, `sections[].rows[]` (`key, label, hint, max`)
3. Add `<script src="./games/my-game.js"></script>` in `index.html` before `app.js`
4. Done — totals, upper bonus, winner highlight, print view work automatically.

See `games/template.js` for starter shape.

## Why Dice Dozen first? (IP safety)

Yahtzee®, Qwixx® and most published score sheets are still copyrighted.
Do **not** clone their sheets, names, trade dress, or rule text.

Dice Dozen uses public-domain dice mechanics with original expression:
different name, different hints, original layout/code. Safe to demo publicly
and to show publishers: “here’s what a licensed version could feel like.”

Only add a publisher’s game **after written permission** (email is enough to start,
formal license before App Store release).

## Companies / paths most open to pitches (Oct 2026 research)

1. **Leder Games** — explicitly invites pitches for video-game / digital adaptations.
   Open IP list includes Vast, Root (exceptions apply), Fort, Ahoy.
   → https://ledergames.com/pages/business-development
2. **AEG (Alderac)** — actively seeking Big Game Night designs via Design Portal.
   Wants gameplay-ready, fast/fun games with pitch video.
   → pitches to biggamenight@alderac.com
3. **Maestro Media — Overture** — new 2026 program to co-publish / co-develop /
   acquire titles, offering licensing + manufacturing + retail. Designer window Jan 1–30.
4. **Board Game Arena publisher network** — best signal of who already says “yes” to digital.
   Check their Available Licenses list; if publisher already works with BGA, they understand
   app licensing. If listed as “not working with BGA,” don’t push.
   → https://en.doc.boardgamearena.com/BGA_Game_licenses
5. **Asmodee / Middle-earth (MEE) program** — Asmodee as category manager invites tabletop
   publishers to pitch Middle-earth products: METTGlicensing@asmodee.com
6. **Pubblo** — matchmaking platform publisher ↔ designer for licensing/distribution.
   Good place to list a polished scorekeeper companion.

### Pitch tip for scorekeeper apps

Publishers fear: (a) IP dilution, (b) rule errors, (c) app-store confusion.
Bring: 1-page PDF with screenshots of Dice Dozen, bullet “swap theme in 1 file,”
offline-first + print view, and ask for **non-exclusive companion-app permission**
limited to scorekeeping (not full game simulation) — much easier yes.

Good luck — start with small indies (Leder-style, Game Toppers, Grand Gamers Guild types),
get one logo, then leverage it upward.
